Sunbury Community Arts & Cultural Precinct
Tiered QUATTRO Seating Stage at Jackson's Hill Sunbury VIC
Located within the historic Women’s Refectory Building at Jacksons Hill, the Sunbury Community Arts & Cultural Precinct is a thoughtfully restored and revitalised community venue designed to support performances, events and cultural activities for the growing Sunbury region. Designed by Architecture Associates and constructed by Stokes Rousseau Pty Ltd, the project carefully balanced modern functionality with the preservation of the building’s historic character.
The Problem
The venue required a flexible, professional tiered staging and seating solution capable of supporting a wide variety of community performances, presentations and cultural events. As the building is heritage-listed, the staging system also needed to integrate sympathetically within the restored interior while remaining practical for regular use and storage.
The Constraints
Working within a historic building presented several unique challenges. Access throughout the venue was limited by narrow original doorways and confined storage areas, making standard transport and storage solutions unsuitable.
The staging system also required a durable, high-quality finish appropriate for a premium community venue, while maintaining the flexibility and portability needed for multi-purpose use.
Why Select Concepts Was Chosen
Select Concepts was chosen for our ability to collaborate closely with architects, builders and project teams to create portable staging systems tailored to the specific operational and architectural requirements of each venue.
Our experience delivering custom staging solutions into complex and architecturally sensitive spaces allowed us to work closely with Architecture Associates and Stokes Rousseau Pty Ltd to develop a solution that maintained both functionality and aesthetics, while respecting the heritage significance of the building.
The Solution
Select Concepts supplied a QUATTRO Tiered Seating Stage system designed specifically for the venue’s multi-purpose performance requirements.
All stage frames were custom powder coated to provide a refined, durable finish suited to the premium fit-out of the facility. To overcome the building’s restricted access points, Select Concepts also designed and manufactured custom storage trollies sized specifically to navigate the narrow historic doorways while still providing efficient transport and compact storage of the staging components.
The result was a highly functional and visually cohesive staging solution that respected the heritage nature of the building while delivering modern performance capability.
The Result
The completed staging system provides the Sunbury Community Arts & Cultural Precinct with a flexible and professional performance solution that can be easily configured, transported and stored by venue staff.
Through careful planning, custom engineering and attention to detail, Select Concepts successfully delivered a staging solution that met the practical demands of a contemporary community venue while preserving the integrity and character of this significant historic building.
