Melbourne’s iconic stadium, home of the Australian Open Tennis and venue for all the major touring performers, in the middle of a 4-year $700 million upgrade, needed to conform to recent Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) legislation to provide a minimum level of wheelchair and disabled seating.

The building contractor, Lendlease, needed to provide a simple disability seating platform system which Rod Laver Arena could quickly install to cover the number of successful event ticket sales to disabled patrons.

Select Staging Concept’s designed a simple portable Disability Seating Platform system to be installed over the rear tiered rows of standard seating unique to Rod Laver Arena’s current seating plans. We have now supplied and installed enough seating platforms to enable this magnificent, and brilliantly refurbished, arena to be compliant and meet their DDA legal obligations.

So now when you see Roger Federer and Serena Williams battle it out on centre court, or one of many events held at the Arena, cast an eye out for happy and safely-seated patrons and their friends on our PILOT Modular Stage platforms radiating out from the centre transverse aisle
